Clinical Trials * Medtronic Ablation Frontiers * Ablation Therapy * Atrial Fibrillation * International

Medtronic Ablation Frontiers is currently sponsoring a multi-center study of patients with Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation (PAF) in several European hospitals.

The study uses a recently CE-Marked technology that allows cardiologists to deliver bipolar and/or unipolar RF energy to a multi-polar catheter which may shorten procedure times and potentially improve patient outcomes. This study is known as “Multi-Array Ablation of Pulmonary Veins for Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation” or MAP-PAF.

The MAP-PAF is a post-market study and indication is supported by CE Mark. This study will examine short and long-term efficacy and safety of the new technology. One of the main goals of the study is to show that patients receiving an ablation can have an improved quality of life, free from anti-arrhythmic drugs and in the absence of AF symptoms. In addition, the MAP-PAF study is designed to show that physicians can shorten procedure times and improve the efficiency of their hospitals.
